PMMA tunnel in Deepspot diving pool
The construction of the tunnel was a huge technological challenge, because the tunnel is not anchored to the ground and connected with a footbridge overhang in the pool area. This means a change in loads during flooding, because the footbridge with the tunnel stretches downwards, and during flooding it is gradually displaced upwards.
We had to take these changes into account and therefore we have placed special rubber aprons at the end of the tunnel to compensate for load changes. The tunnel consists of seven 100 mm thick sections.
